Professional Yachting Courses and Certification

Generally service of professional crew members is in demand for operation and routine maintenance of yachts which size is more than 70 feet (24 meters). Level of technical equipment of such yachts does not come short of passenger liners, and what concerns comfort they can be compared with the five star hotels. Crew of such superyachts consists of 15-20 highly qualified specialists.

A necessary condition for employment as a superyacht crew is availability of certificate of competency (COC) and Seafarer's identification document.

IMMARBE
STORM company based on agreement signed on July 5, 2012, performs issuance of documents to the seafarers on behalf of IMMARBE (THE INTERNATIONAL MERCHANT MARINE REGISTRY OF BELIZE).

IMMARBE professional certificates are issued to the candidates who submit the documents confirming: completion of training, accordance with requirements concerning state of health, completion of additional courses on the programmes required by STCW Convention 1978, as Amended in the training centre recognized by IMAMRBE.

STORM Training Centre is the first in the Russian Federation training centre approved by IMMARBE (certificate of recognition No MTC 007 /13 dated February 26, 2013), which carries out training of professional yachts crew members.

Holders of IMMARBE COCs can be qualified for work as the following professional yachts crew members:

  • Yacht Master;
  • Chief Mate:
  • RFPNW (helmsman); 
  • Cook;
  • Steward (stewardess);
  • Bartender.

     

Requirements to the candidates:

Yacht Master Certificate of Competency  is issued together with Seafarer's identification document and gives the right to work as a Master or Chief Mate.

To receive Yacht Master the candidate should possess:

  1. Master or Chief Mate Certificate of Competency, or certificate of training on the course "Ocean Master" issued by the educational institution recognized by IMMARBE;
  2. Certificates issued by educational institution recognized by IMMARBE, confirming training on the following programmes:
  • Advanced Fire Fighting Course,
  • Medical Care Course,
  • Radar Observation and Plotting & Use of ARPA,
  • GMDSS General Operator Course,
  • Proficiency in Survival Crafts and Rescue Boats,
  • Basic First Aid Course,
  • Basic Fire Fighting Course,
  • Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities,
  • Proficiency in Personal Survival Techniques,
  • Ship Security Officer Course.

For receiving of "RFPNW" Certificate of Competency the candidate should possess:

Certificate of completion of the course Rating Forming Part of a Navigational Watch Course (Section-A-II/4) issued by the educational institution recognized by IMMARBE.

  • Document confirming evidence of practical experience at sea not less than 2 months or;
  • Document confirming evidence of practical experience at sea not less than 2 months and training not less than 6 months;

Certificates issued by educational institution recognized by IMMARBE, confirming training on the following programmes:

  • Basic First Aid Course,
  • Basic Fire Fighting Course,
  • Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities,
  • Proficiency in Personal Survival Techniques.

Seafarer's identification document gives the right for work on the yacht as Cook, Steward, Bartender.

For receiving Seafarer's identification document a candidate is required to submit:

  • Certificate issued by a specialized training center confirming that its holder has sufficient qualification or document (-s) confirming that a candidate has experience of practical work in his capacity.

Certificates issued by educational institution recognized by IMMARBE confirming training on the following programmes:

  • Basic First Aid Course,
  • Basic Fire Fighting Course,
  • Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities,
  • Proficiency in Personal Survival Techniques.
